In his talk, entrepreneur Michael Chen describes an encounter he had with one of his neighbours and the piece of advice his neighbour gave him. The advice led him to the conclusion that people often think they cannot create massive change, but one does not have to be an expert because it is always more doable than you believe. Michael Chen also discusses his belief that anyone can produce a brilliant idea, but a good idea is all about persistence. It takes many, many bad ideas to get a good one. It is by constantly thinking about the problem, that you will find the inspiration you are looking for, relating these beliefs to his life experiences and research. Michael Chen is a senior at Ridgeview High School in the IB program. He is a passionate inventor, researcher, and communicator who has done several scientific research projects that have had great success at the International Science and Engineering Fair. Michael is also currently serving as the Florida State president of Future Business Leaders of America. Michael Chen is working to bridge the gap between STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) and communication and is dedicated to making the world a better place through innovative ideas. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
