There are competing accounts of what transpired just before Newark mayor Ras Baraka‘s arrest by Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents Friday afternoon during a confrontation at Delaney Hall that included members of Congress. Baraka was arrested while trying to serve the company that operates the facility with summons from the city. But the U.S. Department of Homeland Security said Friday that members of Congress “stormed” the facility in a “bizarre political stunt.” NJ.com has pulled together footage from multiple sources at the confrontation on May 9, 2025, including Department of Homeland Security bodycam footage, to show what happened in the chaotic moments leading up to Baraka’s arrest.
