The Cimarons formed in the UK in 1967 with a line up consisting of Franklyn Dunn (bass), Carl Levy (vocals/keyboard), Locksley Gichie (guitar), and Maurice Ellis (drums). Winston`Reedy’ Reid joined in 1973 taking on lead vocal duties. They were primarily session musicians and backed many artists, such as Jimmy Cliff, Ken Boothe and Nicky Thomas. In 1974 Trojan released `In Time’ featuring covers including the O'Jays' `Ship Ahoy’ alongside `Over The Rainbow’ and `My Blue Heaven’ as well as the favoured `Utopian Feeling’ and `Time Passage’. Following Trojan’s financial issues in the mid 70s, the group released `On The Rock’ through Vulcan that was recorded in Jamaica. With the arrival of Punk Rock, Polydor signed them and released, `Live At The Roundhouse’ and the wonderful `Maka’ highlighting the track `Truly' and their allegiance with `Rock Against Racism.’ In 1978 Polydor released our featured track `Harder Than The Rock' that can be found on the live album and later provided the title to a documentary of their career from 1967 through to the present. They subsequently signed with Virgin who released, `Freedom Street’, followed by Paul McCartney’s `Reggaebility’ project covering the ex-Beatle’s MPL catalogue done inna reggae style. Into the millennium the Cimarons continue to provide top notch reggae as documented in the movie, `Harder Than The Rock' (named after the hit song featured in our clip). The nucleus of the band Franklyn Dunn and Locksley Gichie provide the foundation as sadly Maurice Ellis passed during the making of the movie and recruited Michael Aark as lead vocalist. The single `Paul Bogle' has proved particularly popular and an album soon come. DISCLAIMER!!! I Do Not Own Song/Songs In This Video, They Belong To It's Respective Owners.
