Now that we have a shed all set, the next important item is to have a workbench so that we can continue to build and create for the house without breaking our backs! We also thought that the workbench should allow us to work in any weather conditions: carport in the summer, shed in the winter. Hence, we have added wheels to our workbench (the only difficulty is getting the bench up and down the step at the shed entrance – seems like an opportunity to build a ramp!) The workbench measures 1800mm long x 600mm wide, and about 800mm tall (to match our slightly shorter stature – many workbenches on the market are about 900mm in NZ, suitable for taller people). There is a lower shelving space to store tools and equipment and that makes it easy to access them when required. Since we are still familiarising ourselves with building and using a limited range of tools, we are slow, hence why it took about 9-10 hours. Most people who are well setup can probably complete the job in 2 hours (apparently there are people on Youtube who could complete the job in as little as 1 hour!). We were very happy with the end product, we got a really robust workbench that can be wheeled around and is also aesthetically quite pink 😊
