Tengboche, also known as Thyangboche, is a high-altitude village in Nepal’s Khumbu region, best known for its iconic Tengboche Monastery—the spiritual heart of Sherpa Buddhism and an important stop for trekkers heading to Everest Base Camp. Sitting at 3,867 meters (12,687 feet), it offers sweeping views of Everest, Ama Dablam, Lhotse, and other Himalayan peaks. The village is a cultural hub where visitors can attend daily monastic prayers and, in autumn, witness the vibrant Mani Rimdu festival. Despite its remote setting, Tengboche is easily one of the most scenic and meaningful places along the Everest trekking route. Dingboche is a high-altitude village in the Khumbu region of Nepal, located at about 4,410 meters (14,470 feet) and commonly used as an acclimatization stop for trekkers heading toward Everest Base Camp, Ama Dablam Base Camp, and the Three Passes. Known for its wide, open valley and stone-walled fields that protect barley and potatoes from harsh winds, Dingboche offers impressive views of Ama Dablam, Lhotse, and Island Peak. Compared to nearby Pheriche, it is sunnier and slightly more sheltered, making it a popular place for extra acclimatization days, with short hikes to viewpoints like Nangkartshang Peak providing excellent altitude preparation and stunning panoramas.
