Recorded Tuesday January 29th at round 4 PM. I wrote this tune about a week or so ago for the smallpipes. Been learning it up and it's definitely one of my favorites compositions. Very influenced by the irregular counting patterns of Balkan music, which I have studied at least in brief as a percussionist. Enjoy! Cheers! Copyright 2008. PS, sorry about the shaking camera. Got carried away with the stomping. ;-P UPDATE 3/18/08: Forgive me if I boast a bit, but I thought this was pretty cool! Got this message from Bruce Gandy: "hi there hick mick, this is Bruce Gandy and I just found your video here on you tube. Can I offer a piece of advice and a request? I think the tune is excellent and was wondering if you would send me a copy as I would like to bring it to our grade one band to play 78th Highlanders Halifax Citadel Pipe Band in Halifax Canada." PRETTY SWEET, EH?!?! Anyway, thanks for the compliment Bruce! It means a great deal to me that a piper of your caliber appreciates my composition. Cheers! Thanks for listening everyone! UPDATE 4/08/08: Well, this just keeps getting better and better. Props from TWO big names in piping on this tune so far. Not too shabby! "Hey Mick, I just saw your tune on the small pipes on youtube. It is really cool and melodic. I used to play with Gordon Duncan in the Vale way back and it is very cool that people appreciate his talents and music. Any chance of a copy of your tune please? Thanks, Adrian Melvin www.ibagpipe.com"
