Well here is part 2 in the Neil Young Tweed Deluxe 5e3 clone build. A few issues are addressed that arose through an interview given by Larry Cragg who has been Neil Youngs guitar tech since 1972 . These concern different tubes used by Grandpa Grunge, 6L6's instead of the 6V6's supplied the upgraded transformer that should be used to achieve the higher voltage on the B+ needed to run 6L6's at full whack and an alternative rectifier tube. The speaker must also be changed from the supplied Jensen P12R to a Jensen C12N. I decide to change the Alpha pots that came with the kit for matched USA made CTS pots. The Eyelet board is finished in this episode. I always wanted a Fender Tweed Deluxe 5E3 ever since I saw and heard Neil Young playing live with his. Although an original was beyond the reach of my budget for a new workshop amp ( $ 1250 ) a kit wasn't. I found a kit supplier in Germany called Tubeampdoctor ( TAD ) and the 5E3 kit had rave reviews, so I bought one. This video the first of a few about me building the amp and upgrading it to something resembling Neil Youngs. This kit is my starting point for the Neil Young Clone.
