I love you, Lord; you are my strength. The Lord is my rock, my fortress, and my savior; my God is my rock, in whom I find protection. He is my shield, the power that saves me, and my place of safety. I called on the Lord, who is worthy of praise, and he saved me from my enemies. Psalm 18:1–3 I will lift up my voice to the Lord for in the depths of his love I find protection. He is my shield and the power that saves me! May all God's children place our trust in him and take up permanent residence, building our lives on the rock which he provides and seeking our safety in his fortress for he is our savior! Lord, I repent for the times when I'm looking someplace else to hide, rather than right up next to you, in your fortress, on your rock. And I repent for not trusting in the shield that you offer and the power that you have to save me from my enemies and from the trials that are upon me. And sometimes Lord, I fail to call on you at all, looking everywhere else for my rescue, and, turning to you last, when all else has failed. Forgive me, Lord, for not turning to you first, for not trusting you more to come to my aid . Thank you, Lord, for reminding us that you are the one we need to be calling to. You are the one who is worthy of our prayers. You are the one who is able to save us from our enemies. But more than that, you want to do it, you want to help us, you want to rescue us, you want to heal us, you want to provide for us in abundance, you want to shine the light on the path for us to take, if only we will receive it all. If only we would turn to you instead of all the other places that we look. Oh Lord, how much time we waste before we finally turn to you for all that we need. Help us, Lord, to trust you more and to shorten that time. Help us to turn to you as our very first instinct, a natural reaction, when fear and trouble come upon us. Thank you for the peace that fills us as we do. Thank you for helping us to remain strong, to stand, in the face of evil, trusting you and calling out to you to bring us out on the other side, safe and sound, strong and healthy, warm and fed, and full of peace. All praise and glory and honor to you, O Lord, our strength, our rock, our fortress, and our savior! All these things I pray in the name of Jesus Christ through the power of the Holy Spirit and all to the glory of God. Amen.
