SOUNDBITE: (English) Syed Hamid Albar, Malaysian Foreign Minister: "While the situation in Palestine and Iraq remained tense and dangerous in an already fragile and volatile region, another front for confrontation is added with the recent Israeli air raid in Syria on October 4th, 2003. This blatant act of aggression against Syria - a fellow member of the OIC - must be condemned in the strongest terms as provocative, arrogant and dangerous." 18. Syed Hamid at podium 19. SOUNDBITE: (English) Syed Hamid Albar, Malaysian Foreign Minister: "The OIC must be equally concerned with Israel's threat on the personal safety of President Yasser Arafat. We demand that Israel desist and rescind its decision to pursue any act of deportation, forced exile or even the elimination of President Yasser Arafat as the move could further complicate the already extremely delicate situation." 20. Delegates 21. Zebari walking 22. SOUNDBITE: (English) Hoshyar Zebari, Iraqi Foreign Minister: "Under the Security Council resolution 1483, yes, legally under international law there is an occupying power controlling Iraq. The feeling of most of the Muslim countries, they want this state of affairs to be ended as soon as possible and we share this view. But we believe that this has to be done in a gradual way, in a phased way so the new Iraq could be stable, prosperous, open, democratic Iraq that is in control of the security. And this is a process actually and it will be done in our view in gradual way. Nobody should question the Iraqi people's willingness and desire to regain their sovereignty and independence, but we understand at the same time it's not easy, it's a complex issue and it will need to be done in a gradual way." 23. Cameraman 24. SOUNDBITE: (English) Farouk Kaddoumi, head of the Palestine Liberation Organization's political department: "Well I'm sorry just to tell you you are concerned about the suicide bombing. You see the people of Palestine, the case has come to them: to be or not to be. Therefore we cannot control everybody. We try to control, but the Americans and Israelis they didn't help us. We stopped violence for 3 months, this is the truth, but the Israelis in order to provoke the Palestinians they continue their assassination on the Palestinians." 25. Kaddoumi walks away 26.
