We've been going at this for almost five years now, and are so grateful of the small and cursed community we have built across social media. If you know anything about Baz Luhrmann's Romeo and Juliet, you'll know it oozes style and charm unlike any other film you've ever seen. I have been obsessed with the look, tone and editing of the film since I first saw it, and have always used it as a source of inspiration. When planning the follow-up video to our first Death Note CMV, it was hard to top an initial video that we considered pretty high-concept yet still kinda weird and fun. It wasn't until I pictured Misa as Mother Magdalene that I had the idea of mashing Death Note and Romeo and Juliet together. My Pinterest vision board for this was very detailed, and I had to come up with creative, inexpensive and easy ways to capture the same sort of tone. It was hard. It required a lot of help from my friends (as per usual), a lot of pre-planning, time and effort, and I'm super happy with some results and kinda-meh about others. All-in-all the result is this absolutely crazy, high-contrast, high-energy thing that I love. ~~~ Thanks to: Marcy - The CMV MVP every time, even when you were still alive but barely breathing. Destiny - For one last cosplay hurrah before you retire from acting. Marisha - For helping me stay organized, keeping the team's energy up and being the MVP on Saturday. Colin - For being the roadie. Julia - For literally saving the day by making dinner and helping at the cottage. No joke, we would've all perished.
