Ponder scored on runs of seven and 31 yards in the first half as Bowie (7-2, 6-0 District 8-6A) rallied from an early 14-0 deficit to trail just 31-28 at halftime. Ponder then added a five-yard touchdown in the third quarter to give Bowie a 35-31 lead. Lamar (4-5, 3-3) regained the lead 38-35 on a four-yard run by Tayrone Thomas late in the third quarter. On the night, Thomas rushed for 204 yards and three touchdowns. Bowie tight end Deontae Tennison caught a two-yard pass from Jayden Bibbs for the deciding touchdown with 5:08 left in the game.
