Salt Water Piper Fly Tying

A fly tying guide to tying the piper salt water pattern. This is a handy pattern to have for a lot of salt water species. Here in New Zealand we use it as a representation of what we call the piper (Hyporhamphus ihi). This long slender fish is a popular food source for our some of our main target fish on the fly being Kingfish and Kahawai. On top of being a representation of the piper I have a suspicion that it will be taken as a general bait pattern as well. I have listed below the materials that I have used in the video itself although some of the earlier pictures are variations on the same fly where Semerfli Ice Straggle Chenille in coral has been used instead of the ice dubbing.
