The project “Land-art and archaeology: new synergy through the boundaries” May 2022 Location: village of Vegeriai, Lithuania Land-art is an art movement, within which the art object is directly connected with the natural landscape. The project invited the artists to create art-objects, inspired by not only nature, but also archaeology and history of the location. In 2022 an art-residence took place in Akmenė during the archeological digging near the village of Vegeriai. This is where the archeology also became an actual co-creator of the art-work. Archeologists, local historians and artists worked in close cooperation. The artists called their work “the archeology of senses” – thus, the archeologists were looking for the artifacts, and the artists were searching for the new images and meanings. Partners: Centre of cultural development "Totem", UA Cultural Centre Ukraine-Lithuania, UA Akmenė History Museum, LT The project “Land-art and archaeology: new synergy through the boundaries” is supported by the European Union under the House of Europe programme. houseofeurope.org.ua
