Please only do this with a mouse that is severely dehydrated and/or won’t drink on their own. Also hold the mouse as gently as possible, but make it so they can’t move a whole lot. Please make sure you don’t get any water in their nose, as this could cause drowning or aspiration. If you notice a bubble come out of their nose, turn them upside down (gently) and call the vet immediately, as this could be a sign that your mouse has aspirated. If your mouse doesn’t want/accept anymore at the time, allow them to take a break and try again in a few minutes. This method can be dangerous if done wrong, so please be very careful. This method may also work for other rodents such as rats, guinea pigs, gerbils, hamsters, chinchillas, degus, hedgehogs, and rabbits. The syringe size depends on the rodent type, and I will be getting some smaller syringes for the mice soon just in case I ever have to do this again.
