Learn what our Must Sees were: (As always these are not in order of priority, but in the order they appear in the video. They are all MUSTS!) 1 – 4:40 - Wind Cave National Park: In addition to taking a cave tour you should plan to hike to the historic entrance as well as spending some time watching the prairie dogs in the prairie dog town. https://www.nps.gov/wica/index.htm 2 - 7:15 - Jewel Cave National Monument: At almost 200 miles of mapped cave and counting this is the longest cave in North America and the third longest in the world. It also boasts of amazing formations throughout. https://www.nps.gov/jeca/index.htm 3 - 12:40 - Mount Rushmore: This is of course the king of all National Monuments and it absolutely delivers when it comes to stirring up some national pride. https://www.nps.gov/moru/index.htm 4 - 12:55 - Iron Mountain Road: While there are several routes to get to Rushmore, none deliver on the beauty and awe of this drive into the monument. Note because of several narrow tunnels this is not a drive for RVs or oversized vehicles. https://www.ironmountainroad.com Steal all our Family Pro Tips: 1 - 4:55 - Take a picnic lunch to Wind Cave: Just before the Visitor Center parking lot on the right is a small picnic area with lots of shade and it is the start of the very short trail to the historic entrance. 2 - 5:30 - Visit the historic entrance to Wind Cave: It is just a short walk from the picnic area to the natural or historic entrance to the cave. It is just a small hole in the rock, but if you have kids they will love the strong, cold wind that pours out of the opening. 3 - 7:35 - Go in the Visitor Center at Jewel Cave: There are some great exhibits in the small Visitor Center. One of our favorites is the huge map of the cave painted on one wall. https://www.nps.gov/jeca/planyourvisi... 4 - 8:35 - Visit the natural entrance to Jewel Cave: Unlike Wind Cave you will need to drive a short distance from the Visitor Center, and then take a short hike to view this entrance. https://www.nps.gov/jeca/learn/histor... 5 - 14:40 - Download the GyPSy Guide tour for this area: While you can purchase a combo that includes several drives in Custer State Park and the Badlands where this group of drives really shines is on Iron Mountain Road going into Rushmore.
