Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Friday (August 29) stood next to Sabine Taasa, who lost her husband Gil Taasa and 17-year-old son Or in the Oct. 7 Hamas attacks, as they showed never-before-seen footage of the attack on her family. “At 6:29 a.m. in the morning I lost my husband, Gil Taasa, and my older son, Or Taasa, not far away from Moshav Netiv Haasara,” said Sabine. The monochrome CCTV footage showed Gil Taasa and his two children, Koren and Shay, running out of a room in the southern Israeli community of Netiv Haasara on Oct. 7, and rushing into a shelter. Moments later a Hamas fighter threw a grenade into the shelter, followed by an explosion of flame and smoke. The armed fighters were then seen entering the shelter, with Gil’s body on the ground. The footage also captured a panicked conversation between the brothers, where Shay told his brother that he had lost sight in one eye. “I can only see with one eye,” he said. The footage showed a Hamas fighter looking through the fridge before leaving the house. Or, the eldest brother not seen in the released footage, was killed at Zikim beach having gone fishing earlier that morning, according to local media.
