Epic Fury unleashed at RAF Fairford! B-52s & B1s both in action + KC135 divert, U-2 circuits & MORE!

A truly incredible day of aviation at RAF Fairford today with no fewer than fewer than x18 bombers currently based here, and today x4 Boeing B-52 Stratofortress Bombers were in action, followed by x2 Rockwell B-1B Lancers, a Lockheed U-2 on circuits and more! We begin with ROME flight of x2 B-52s ROME84 + ROME85 arriving back from a mission early on Friday morning, before heading across to the 09 end where the U-2 Spyplane made an appearance on circuits, before more fully loaded bombers departed, firstly x2 B-52s configured with 12 AGM-158 JASSM-family cruise missiles and possibly more inside, smoking their way off on ARNIE24 + ARNIE25 flight. The U-2 landed and make way for the Ellsworth B-1 Lancers carrying their payload internally, and making an incredible noise as they light the burners and roar into the sky as callsigns SHOOK73 + SHOOK74. As if all that wasn’t enough we also had a KC-135 Stratotanker which diverted due to fog and is seen making an epic departure under callsign LAGER51, as well as the Ramstein Hercules we saw on Wednesday    • USAF Hercules head in from Ramstein and th...   HKY709 returning for a brief visit! After the departure of the KC-135 Stratotanker we take a look at the bombers on the ground, as the Hercules departs and some of the B-1s on the ground shatter the peace during the afternoon while conducting engine tests as operations continue. This intensive day of action comes on a decisive day for the war in the Middle East where it was announced that the UK Government has changed their stance from initially only allowing the use of airbases for defensive purposes, to agreeing to allow the US to use British bases RAF Fairford and Diego Garcia to carry out raids on Iranian missile sites that are attacking ships in the Strait of Hormuz.
