The Stream of Life and the Great Chasm (Verse 1) In the desert heat, the barren bush will fade, Seeking strength in flesh, a heart in shadows laid (Jer 17:5). But "blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord" (Jer 17:7), Whose roots reach deep to the waters of heaven. He "fears not the heat" nor the "year of drought" (Jer 17:8), For the love of Lord Jesus has cast out all doubt. (Chorus) "Blessed are they who hope in the Lord" (Ps 1:1), Finding their peace in His Holy Word. Turn from the world, from its pride and its gold, Before the great chasm and stories are told. Run to the Father, His arms open wide, With Lord Jesus our Savior, there’s nothing to hide. (Verse 2) The rich man feasted in "purple and fine linen" (Luke 16:19), While Lazarus suffered, his body all broken. The "scraps from the table" were all that he sought (Luke 16:21), While the rich man was blinded by all he had bought. But "God is my help," as the poor man’s name cries, He was "carried by angels" to paradise skies (Luke 16:22). (Verse 3) "Between us and you a great chasm is fixed" (Luke 16:26), Where mercy and justice are no longer mixed. Don't wait for a sign or the "dead to arise" (Luke 16:31), The "Moses and Prophets" have opened our eyes (Luke 16:29). With a "generous heart," let us yield a harvest (Luke 8:15), Giving to Lord Jesus our very best. (Bridge) The Lord "probes the mind and tests the heart" (Jer 17:10), To see if from mercy we’ve chosen to part. "Whatever he does, prospers" in grace (Ps 1:3), When we seek the light of the Father’s face. (Outro) Come home to the Stream, let your leaves stay green, In the arms of the Father, where mercy is seen. Amen.
