Talk given on Wednesday, October 7th, 2020. Abstract: The circle method has its roots in a 1918 paper by Hardy and Ramanujan which dealt mainly with the partition function, but also with the representation of numbers as sums of squares. Since then, it has been used with remarkable success by Hardy, Littlewood, Vinogradov, among others, in the field of additive number theory. In this talk, we will focus on the main ideas of the circle method and illustrate its use in the Linnik–Goldbach problems.
