In this video, I’m taking you on a spiritual journey to Kurama-dera Temple, a sacred mountain sanctuary tucked away in northern Kyoto. Our adventure begins with a scenic ride on the Eizan Railway, arriving at the iconic Kurama Station where the giant Tengu mask greets every traveler. From there, we’ll pass through the majestic Niomon Gate and embark on a soul-cleansing hike up the winding mountain trails toward the Main Hall (Hondo). Kurama is not just a temple; it’s widely known as one of Japan’s most potent "energy vortexes" and the legendary birthplace of Reiki healing. We’ll stand on the famous Kongo-sho—the hexagonal floor where cosmic energy is said to converge—before exploring the mystical Kinone-michi (Root Path), where the earth's ancient roots weave a natural staircase. To wrap up our pilgrimage, we’ll take a peaceful descent via the Kurama-yama Cable Car, the only funicular in Japan operated by a religious institution. Join me for a "Zen moment" amidst the cedar forests and ancient spirits of Kyoto’s most mystical mountain.
