Today I'm going into and exploring Cottondale, Florida. Located in Jackson County, its home to about 894 residents. Entering the city, it's quickly obvious that it has unfortunately seen better days. Many abandoned homes here, along with a lot of empty forgotten commercial businesses. Poverty level is around 18%, and income per capita is about 21,000 dollars. The area was a thriving place one time around the early 1900's dealing with production of corn, cotton, and tobacco. Sadly though after crop infestations, much of that went away. The area has also dealt with natural disasters including Hurricane Michael, creating severe economic hardships. A recovery doesn't seem to be in the near future, but its a charming little town with a tight knit community, so hopefully one day. Let's take a look
