Verneukpan Road Trip Day 4 of 8(Jagersberg Farm to Verneukpan)

The way out of Jagersberg farm required us to dodge some rain damaged road hazards and to wield our trusty hammer at some rather intimidating "middelmannetjies". Once we made a left onto the R361 towards Van Wyksvlei we realized that the "middelmannetjies" were still there, however they now ran horizontally across the road and changed their name to "corrugations," straight from hell itself. We travel to "not feel at home", so mind over matter we found the sweet spot (around 25 km/hour), turned up the music and watched trucks and road works vehicles come speeding past at break neck speeds. After bouncing our way to and through Van Wyksvlei we hit a beauty of a dirt road, as smooth and beautiful as an oregon pine dining room table. But we know all good things come to an end and ours was 100 metres of soft sand, something resembling the stuff you find in a cat litter box. What I remembered from my few proper off-road excursions (thanks to Schus Parow) was that sand needs momentum! So we backed off a bit and hit it at speed and just kept going. The kink in the road was interesting!! Our final challenge for the day was our tent. For some reason the front poles decided that they preferred the concave shape to the convex one it was originally designed for.
