This video contains a complete and concise education on frame rates for filming. Find everything I do here: https://www.timbelchamber.com/ Summary Notes The Best Frame Rate is your camera's base frame rate with your timeline frame rate matching. Data Per Frame reduces as you increase frame rate as data is allocated to more frames. Rendering Frame Rates Greater than your timeline results in excess frames being thrown away, meaning the sacrifice of lower quality frames for more frames was a waste. Slow-motion requires more frames, so that they can be spread over your timeline and be played back slower than real time. If you want to play back at 50% you need 200% frames, 25% requires 400% and so on. Mismatching Frame Rates happens when your footage is recorded or slowed to a number that isn't a multiple of your timelines frame rate. When this happens your computer has to generate new frames or reorganise and delete existing frames to match the timeline. Ideally you want to avoid this. High End Cameras can film both high resolutions and high frame rates simultaneously, but cost more and use more space. If you can afford it, the freedom it grants during your edit is highly valuable. High Shutter Speed is required for high frame rates, meaning you will have to increase exposure using artificial lighting, aperture or ISO. Shooting to Edit means that you've planned the shots you need enabling you to choose the best frame rates and resolution combinations. This is the most efficient way to film. Timeline Frame Rate should match the base frame rate of your camera. If this is NTSC, you might be using 23.976 or 24 fps. If you are shooting PAL, then it's 25 fps. Creative Choice means that other timeline frame rates aren't wrong, but unless you have a very good camera, you will be sacrificing data per frame and slow-motion potential. Some YouTubers such as Marques Brownlee (MKBHD) prefer a 30 fps timeline.
