The Supreme Court on Friday directed the “forthwith” removal of stray dogs from the premises of educational institutions, hospitals, sports complexes, bus stands and depots, and railway stations “to a designated shelter, after due sterilisation and vaccination in accordance with the Animal Birth Control Rules”. At the 150th anniversary event in Delhi, PM Modi accused Congress of dropping "Ma Durga" stanzas from Vande Mataram in 1937 to appease minorities, calling it a betrayal of India's spirit while unveiling commemorative stamp and coin. Jairam Ramesh countered, citing historian Sabyasachi Bhattacharya's book: Tagore advised adopting only first two stanzas; demanded Modi apologize for distorting history.
