Episode 372: The Wrestling Classic When asked "what is the 1st wrestling PPV ever?" people will immediately have 1 of 2 answers; either Wrestlemania 1 from March 1985 or Starrcade 1983 from November 1983. However neither of those shows were the 1st PPVs; they were technically not PPVs at all, as both were Closed Circuit events. The 1st wrestling PPV would take place on November 7th, 1985 in Chicago & it was called The Wrestling Classic. A World Wrestling Federation presentation called Wrestlevision. This featured a 16 man elimination tournament with Adrian Adonis, Corporal Kirchner, Dynamite Kid, Nikolai Volkoff, Ivan Putski, Randy Savage, Ricky Steamboat, Davey Boy Smith, Iron Sheik, Junkyard Dog, Moondog Spot, Terry Funk, Tito Santana, Don Muraco, Bob Orton, & Paul Orndorff as participants in the tournament. Besides an elimination tournament, there was a WWF Championship match between Hulk Hogan & Roddy Piper. And outside of the matches, there was a giveaway for a Rolls Royce Silver Cloud 3 car.
