The cool December air mirrors the bittersweet charm of JUS’s (@JUS18Sep) melodic songs. With soothing harmonies and poignant lyrics, his music delves into the depths of heartbreak, carried by the tender interplay of guitar and piano. These instruments, subdued yet evocative, act as gentle guides through memories long buried but never forgotten. Like a ghost softly stirring in the corners of the mind, the pull of the past lingers, giving his performance an ethereal, haunting beauty. JUS’s deep familiarity with music effortlessly translates into a relaxed, inviting atmosphere for his listeners. A young man driven by his passion, he fully immerses himself in his craft. In 2016, during a visit to his cousin, JUS had the chance to attend Gitameit, where he was introduced to music and began vocal training. Shortly after, he performed at a friend’s open mic, marking his debut on stage. This experience boosted his confidence and connected him with fellow musicians in the underground music community like Inappropriate Thoughts. Today, he writes, performs and creates music–carving out his place in Yangon’s vibrant music scene. In 2017, JUS began writing his own songs and rented an apartment in Yankin, where he immersed himself in music. He often played guitar at his friends’ performances and stepped in as a backup vocalist when needed. It was during this time that he crossed paths with us at Tagu Films. He was a close friend and collaborator with Tagu’s long term friend Thar Nge, from The Four. JUS featured on a few of Thar Nge’s Moody Saturday live session which were shot around the Tagu office weekly over a year. In 2018, he wrote "Her Song" in a style best described as Neo Soul. By 2019, he had written a few more songs though they were only performed live. That same year, before the COVID-19 pandemic, JUS met Chan Chann and guitarist Toe Wai Lwin, and together they formed the band Purple Forest. It was with these friends that he wrote “Us Two”, a song he performed at Tagu Jams. His first single “Stuck” features Sync, Chan Chann, and Toe Wai Lwin on guitar and debuted in November 2024. Both singles are now available on all streaming platforms for your listening pleasure. For this live session, we brought back Nyein Than Thar @ Ella who sang with Pone Yape in his Tagu Jams session, Suzie who debuted with her cello in Lin Pyae's session, and Aung Khant, the bassist, who had been a regular contributor/collaborator with Tagu Jams. It's so good to see these familiar faces again. And we welcomed Tony Mungpi (keys), Phyo Ko (guitars) and Nga Thant (drums) to our office recording room which was obviously packed. There are a total of four songs in this live recording session which was captured on July 21, 2024, which was only 2 days after we shot the Abstract jam session. Yup, it was quite a busy week at the Tagu office.
