I shot this at Benfica’s academy, (Benfica Campus), in Lisbon, but this is not Benfica’s u15 team. The trainers are, however, are Benfica academy trainers. The players are Brazilian, plus one YPT player (American), who took part in a program called the ‘Fluminense Experience’ which gives players the opportunity to train with Fluminense FC (Brazil) academy trainers and travel abroad to train and compete. The team traveled to Portugal to compete in The Iber Cup and spent two days (4 sessions) preparing at Benfica Campus. The facility is impressive. If you are interested in more information about the Fluminense Experience, email us: [email protected]. The grid is about 40 x 40 yards. There are four goals, set at angles, at each of the four corners of the grid. In this clip only 2 small goals available so cones were used for other two goals. There are two lines of players opposite each other: a line of attackers and a line of defenders. Basically, the object of the exercise is for the attacker to beat his defender 1v1 and score in one of two goals. If the defender wins the ball he attempts to score as well. The attacker can only score in the two farthest goals from his starting point. The defender, if he wins the ball, can only score in the two farthest goals from his starting point. Attackers and defenders each have two goals to score on. If a player attacks one goal but is effectively pressured by the defender he is encouraged to change direction and attack the other goal. The trainer would have to pairs playing at one time. There are three parts to this exercise. Part One: The attacker starts with the ball and dribbles at the defender before attempting to score. As soon as the attacker starts dribbling the defender can move to pressure him. Part Two: the defender starts with the ball and passes to the attacker on the ground. As soon as the ball is passed the defender can/should move to pressure the attacker. Part Three: the defender starts with the ball and passes in the air (long ball) to the attacker. As soon as the ball is played the defender can/should move to pressure the attacker. If you like this video please like and subscribe.
