SOUNDBITE (English) Maureen Lipman, actor: "It's about a woman who's relentlessly happy, and this doesn't please everybody. In fact, her going out and singing in Indian restaurants and the hairdressers and the butchers and everywhere else drives everybody crazy, to the point that they bring in the law. And it brings up the question of what you do with someone who steps outside the norms of society. And she is, you would call her neurodivergent, really." 9. Medium shot "Allegra" poster 10. SOUNDBITE (English) Peter Quilter, playwright: "I think we really need comedy, especially light comedy. I don't think we want to be hit over the head with messages and politics. I think that we're in a period, which will end, but we're in a period at the moment where people really need to go to the theater, sit with other people and laugh and enjoy themselves and that doesn't mean they're not going to get a story or drama or characters - they'll get everything and hopefully their hearts will be touched, but I want to give the audience a fun time and we really, really need that." 11. SOUNDBITE (English) Maureen Lipman, actor: "You know, I'm feeling very happy in my life in spite of the fact that my tribe is being attacked right, left and center. So that's a sort of dichotomy that I'm dealing with. And this play came along and it's plugged into these feelings of I'd better not, I'd better be too happy because there are people who are having such a sad time. And of course, there are. We are at the whim of tyrants, are we not?" 12. Wide shot Grace Mouat and GSA (Guildford School of Acting) singers 13. Performance "Love Heals" from the musical "Rent" - Grace Mouat and the GSA singers 14. SOUNDBITE (English) Thomas Hopkins, producer: "To be able to bring that show here in the year that Jonathan, you know, firstly would have been his 66th birthday today and 30 years since we lost him, is really special. And to work with Julie Larson, his sister, to bring it here is just really just incredibly humbling and I think means so much to so many people." 15. SOUNDBITE (English) Grace Mouat, actor: "We are so excited to be part of 'The Jonathan Larson Project.' It's an incredibly important time, marking 30 years since his passing and 30 years since the first preview of 'Rent,' which was only a few hours after. He really changed storytelling in musical theater and just in general." 16. Performance "Love Heals" from "Rent" - Grace Mouat and the GSA singers 17. SOUNDBITE (English) Max Harwood, actor: "There was an urgency in his work that I really think is still affecting people and still relevant now, 30 years on, you know. We're only, like, a couple of years on from the amazing film "Tick, Tick... Boom!" starring Andrew Garfield, which did fantastically well. And yeah, I think he's just a genius and somehow his music and his songs get under our skin and make us feel something." 18. Performance "Love Heals" from "Rent" - Grace Mouat and the GSA singers 19.
