Welcome to another episode on the R2D channel! Today we investigate a Total Quartz Ineo ECS 5W30 oil sample bought on AliExpress for just 107 PLN (~25 USD). Could it really be authentic at such a low price? Let’s find out! 🛒 Background: The oil was sent by Jacek, a viewer who bought it from a Polish seller on AliExpress. The bottle looks good, but the QR code doesn’t verify, and the same QR number was found on other bottles online. 💡 What's the goal? ✔️ Check viscosity against the official datasheet ✔️ Compare infrared (FTIR) spectra to previously tested Total samples ✔️ Identify any signs of counterfeit production 🔬 Key Lab Results: ✅ Viscosity: – Slight mismatch initially, but after correcting a datasheet typo, the difference was less than 5%, which is typical even for original oils. ✅ Infrared Spectroscopy: – FTIR spectra matched previous Total ECS samples – No signs of mineral oils or suspicious additives – Minor differences likely due to production batches or instrument sensitivity 🧠 Final conclusion: From a physicochemical standpoint, the oil appears genuine.
