SWEDEN'S LARGEST SPRING WINTER OUTDOOR FESTIVAL Celebrate the arrival of spring with warmth, community, and performing arts! Let the fire crackle and the light shine as we gather in Kungsträdgården to celebrate the most magical transition of the year. In an atmosphere filled with music, fire shows, the warming aromas of Persian lentil stew, and sparkling bonfires, thousands of people gather every year to welcome the arrival of spring with open arms. The Fire Festival, also known as Chaharshanbeh Soori, is a non-religious celebration with roots extending nearly 4,000 years, celebrated by many different cultures around the world. Much like the Swedish Valborg tradition, it marks the arrival of spring. The festival is always held on the last Tuesday before the Iranian New Year, Nowruz, which coincides with the spring equinox. Through blazing fires and shimmering lights, we welcome nature’s transformation – from the cold grip of winter to the life-giving warmth of spring. It’s a celebration for both body and soul. The Fire Festival in Stockholm is not just a tradition, but an annual tribute to diversity and togetherness – a place where we all, regardless of background or belief, gather to celebrate the arrival of spring. It is a vibrant manifestation of integration, where our differences make us stronger. When we gather around the fire, we are all part of the same warming light. Warmly welcome to a shared meeting place where we unite in collective joy and anticipation of the spring light. The Fire Festival is organized by Riksteaterföreningen Farhang in collaboration with Riksteatern and supported by the City of Stockholm, the Swedish Arts Council, Stockholm's Cultural Administration, and Region Stockholm.
