Get comfortable, dear viewers and subscribers, grab your favorite snacks, and let us take you on a journey filled with positivity and relaxation - a September stroll through one of the most underrated parks in the capital! Kyiv is home to numerous parks perfect for a relaxing stroll, each in varying states of upkeep. One of the city’s most modern and beautiful green spaces is Sovky Park, located in the Borshchahivka district. Established in 1976, Sovky Park is situated in the Sviatoshynskyi district, within the Skarbovyi Forest area. Covering more than 30 hectares (74 acres), it is predominantly filled with pine trees, creating a unique forest-like atmosphere in the middle of the city. Initially, the park was just a grove with dirt pathways, and the natural landscape was left untouched. Today, over 80% of the park is covered with pine trees, but you can also find birch, oak, and maple trees, along with various grass and shrub species. The park is also home to squirrels and songbirds, adding to its peaceful charm. Between 2018 and 2019, Sovky Park underwent a major renovation, and by June 2020, it was transformed into a modern recreational space. The landscape was revitalized with lawns, new trees, and exotic plants, including sakura, Pissard’s plum trees, and even cork trees. Infrastructure upgrades included LED lighting, new walking paths, benches, trash bins, safety buttons, restrooms, and navigation signs. The park now has three entrances, with a dry pedestrian fountain welcoming visitors at the main gate. Among the newest additions are three children’s playgrounds and a 400-square-meter workout area with rubberized flooring and modern equipment. Visitors can now explore the park through a 2-kilometer eco-route, and a chess pavilion with 20 game tables has become a highlight for strategy enthusiasts. What makes Sovky Park truly unique is its status as a forest park - not an artificially planted grove, but a preserved piece of nature in the middle of an urban district.
