This one was a proper mess. We were called out to a heat pump system that was costing the homeowner over £500 per month to run, with uneven heating across the house and next to no control over anything. The system had been built around a thermal store, which might sound clever on paper, but in reality it was forcing the heat pump to run at high temperatures constantly just to keep the store hot. That completely kills efficiency. Instead of running on weather compensation at low flow temperatures like a heat pump should, this system was sitting up around 50 plus degrees all the time. The result? High bills, poor comfort, and a system that never actually settles. So we stripped it right back. We removed the thermal store completely and replaced it with a proper hot water cylinder, installed a 3 port valve for correct control between heating and hot water, fitted new filters, and reworked the pipework throughout to suit how a heat pump should actually be designed. This wasn’t a quick fix. It was a full system rethink. A lot of installers won’t touch jobs like this because of the complexity and the risk involved, but this is exactly the type of work we specialise in at Aventus Eco. Diagnosing poor installs and putting them right properly. Already the difference is night and day. Lower flow temperatures, stable operation, and a system that can finally run efficiently the way it was meant to. Part 2 coming soon, we ran out of daylight before we could fully commission and fine tune the system, so we’ll be back to show final performance, settings, and real world results. If you’ve got a heat pump that’s costing too much to run or just doesn’t feel right, this is exactly why. ⸻ www.aventuseco.com heat pump not working properly, thermal store heat pump, heat pump high bills UK, air source heat pump problems, heat pump inefficient, removing thermal store, heat pump upgrade UK, Vaillant heat pump install, Panasonic heat pump issues, heat pump Scotland, underfloor heating heat pump design, weather compensation heat pump
