On December 7, 2025, seven Ghanaians — including four Members of Parliament — were detained at Ben Gurion Airport in Israel while traveling to attend an international cybersecurity conference. Despite presenting official credentials, the lawmakers were held for over five hours, while three other Ghanaian travelers were deported back to Accra. Three days later, Ghana responded. On December 10, the Government of Ghana deported three Israeli citizens who arrived at Kotoka International Airport, calling the move a reciprocal diplomatic response to what officials described as humiliating and unjustified treatment of Ghanaian citizens and lawmakers. In this video, I break down: • What really happened at Ben Gurion Airport • Why diplomatic passport holders are normally exempt from routine border treatment • The legal and protocol violations surrounding the detentions • Ghana’s official retaliation and its foreign ministry response • The deeper historical context: Ghana–Israel relations, African diplomacy, and Ghana’s 45-year support of the two-state solution — even before the Oslo Accords This incident isn’t just a border dispute — it reflects deeper geopolitical tensions tied to Palestine, African solidarity, UN diplomacy, and Ghana’s long-standing middle-ground foreign policy stance. On this channel, I analyze geopolitics from an African perspective, cutting through headlines to explain the real forces shaping our world.
