"Resolution" (originally from the album "A Love Supreme", composed by John Coltrane) Allan Holdsworth: Guitar Alan Pasqua: Keyboards Jimmy Haslip: Bass Chad Wackerman: Drums Feb 24, 2006, LA CA, Catalina Bar & Grill One of Allan's biggest heroes was John Coltrane. He often cited Coltrane's Sound as one of his favorite records of all time. When Allan reunited with Alan Pasqua (Tony Williams bandmate) in 2006 for some concert dates, they did a few covers, one of which was this tune from Coltrane's seminal album A Love Supreme. Prior to this Coltrane piece, in 1995 Allan had also recorded "Countdown" for his album None Too Soon. "Countdown" comes from Coltrane's "fast changes" era, whereas "Resolution" comes from his more modal period. It's great to hear Allan tackle tunes from both eras of his hero. Finally, it would be remiss not to mention that the whole band sounds like they are having a total blast here. Alan P. starts off this tune with basically Martian jazz.
