The comedy answer song was quite common in the 50s and 60s, primarily as a single release meant to "cash in" on the parodied single's continued success. Randy Newman's single Short People was a huge hit, thus this release here. The song is credited to Gene Hughes and Glass Hammer. Hughes was the former lead singer of the group the Casinos and also was a national promotion executive for MCA Nashville. Glass Hammer released one 80s record on Tennessee's Crescent Hill Records and two singles for Gusto as well. Perhaps these are the singer and band behind the tune?
