United 737-800 Night Takeoff from Houston – Great Engine Roar

Heading out on the second leg of my trip home from Puerto Rico. This was my first time flying into IAH, and I was pleasantly surprised and impressed with the recently remodeled C terminal, where both of my flights were–except for the fact that, oddly enough, none of the newsstands sold ibuprofen, which I definitely needed after a long day like this. You can catch a glimpse of the terminal after we pushed back and as we made our way out to the taxiway, complete with colorful LED ceiling lights. After making our way across the airfield in the dark, we had a really nice takeoff from Runway 15R, then made a few turns to the right to head west to Las Vegas, getting a good view of the northern suburbs of Houston by night as we climbed through some light clouds. While I've noticed that the engines sound a little more muffled on the newer 737s I've flown, my flights on older-build aircraft have sounded a lot better, and this one was no exception. There was a great roar from the CFM56-7B engines, both on takeoff and climbout–you can hear it best around 9:17, when we briefly level off and throttle back before resuming our climb and increasing thrust again.
