The Table Church is a progressive Christian community in Washington DC reimagining what it means to follow the revolutionary way of Jesus in our contemporary world. We're a space for spiritual refugees, questioners, and dreamers who believe that authentic faith must engage seriously with justice, inclusion, and the complexities of modern life. Born from the merger of two congregations, The Table Church embodies a "rooted improvisation" - staying grounded in the prophetic traditions that have long fueled movements for liberation while remaining nimble and responsive to the Spirit's work in our current moment. We gather weekly for services that blend thoughtful teaching, creative worship, and intentional community, currently meeting at DC Bilingual in the morning and First Congregational in the evening. Our community is deeply committed to collective liberation and the renewal of all things. This shows up in our radical welcome of LGBTQ+ folks, our ongoing work of racial justice and reparation, our embrace of theological exploration and doubt, and our commitment to being a place where people can bring their full selves - questions, wounds, hopes and all. We're not interested in easy answers or maintaining the status quo. Instead, we're trying to embody a more beautiful gospel that announces good news for the marginalized and challenges systems of oppression. The Table is led by our co-pastors Anthony Parrott and Tonetta Landis-Aina who help guide our community in practicing five core values: Radical Friendship: Building authentic relationships across differences that challenge and transform us Relentless Curiosity: Staying hungry to learn, grow, and engage hard questions Rooted Improvisation: Remaining grounded while adapting to new realities Restorative Play: Finding joy and creativity in our shared life Revolutionary Justice: Working for the liberation and flourishing of all people and creation Whether you're a lifelong Christian deconstructing your faith, someone hurt by religious trauma seeking healing, or just spiritually curious, The Table aims to be a community where you can explore, question, and grow. We're not perfect, but we're committed to the ongoing work of building beloved community together. Our gatherings blend ancient practices with contemporary expressions, thoughtful teaching with embodied action, individual transformation with collective liberation. You'll find everything from Bible studies diving deep into liberation theology to social justice organizing, from contemplative prayer to joyful celebration, from intimate small groups to larger community gatherings. While we take God seriously, we try not to take ourselves too seriously. We believe spiritual growth happens best in community, through relationships where we can be authentic, vulnerable, and even playful together. Our community includes young professionals, artists, activists, families, students and more - all trying to figure out what it means to follow Jesus in ways that bring more beauty, justice and healing to our world. We'd love for you to join us in this journey of reimagining church together.
