In this video you'll see what a failed water pump looks like after not being touched for 17 years on this Yamaha 90! Your water pump is supposed to be changed every year! Because this motor hasn't been regularly maintained, I had to replace the lower pump housing in addition to the upper housing. If you do maintenance regularly, the water pump kit alone should be sufficient without having to purchase additional parts. I can't speak highly enough about boat.net and I'm not getting paid to said that! lol They were super helpful, had OEM parts at a fraction of the cost of local dealers, and exploded diagrams to see how everything goes together! Super impressed! I was intimidated to work on outboard engines for a long time, but once I dove it, they really aren't as complex as I once thought.
