Odisha Balasore Train Accident | Kavach - Traffic Collision Avoidance System | News and Views | UPSC

On 2 June 2023, three trains collided near the city of Balasore, in the state of Odisha in eastern India. Two passenger trains, the Coromandel Express and the Bengaluru - Howrah SF Express, collided after an initial collision involving goods train near the Bahanaga Bazar railway station. The railway authorities stated that the anti-collision system had not yet been deployed on the track where the collision happened, despite their having been warned twice in the six months before the incident.
