Parasomnia continues with "Dead Asleep." Right from the moment I first heard it, it instantly became one of my favorite Dream Theater songs. I loved the dark and haunting atmosphere, the vivid and cinematic storytelling, and even the few subtle callbacks to songs such as "Beyond This Life." With my orchestration, I took inspiration from various different composers of the late romantic era of classical music, such as Wagner, Richard Strauss, and Mahler. This type of song lent itself to having a very grand and symphonic vibe, and so that's the tone I went with for the piece. Only three tracks left to go after this!
