G20 Summit 2024: PM Modi Meets Biden, Meloni; UK to Resume Free Trade Talks With India Prime Minister Narendra Modi met the US President Joe Biden, his Italian counterpart Giorgia Meloni and other world leaders during the G20 Summit in Brazil's Rio de Janeiro. Sharing a photo of his meeting with Joe Biden, PM Modi wrote, “Always a delight to meet him.” PM Modi also met the UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer. Shortly after their bilateral interaction, a spokesperson for Starmer asserted the UK’s willingness to pursue a "new" trade deal with India. "A new trade deal with India will support jobs and prosperity in the UK -- and represent a step forward in our mission to deliver growth and opportunity across our country," a statement released by 10, Downing Street, quoted Starmer as saying. At the summit, PM Modi spoke about India’s work in inclusive development and fight against poverty and hunger. He said, “Over the last 10 years, we have lifted 250 million people out of poverty.
