Bone Changes: In Paget's disease, the normal bone remodeling process is disrupted. Bones are constantly being broken down and rebuilt in a balanced manner. However, in Paget's disease, this process becomes dysregulated. Bone tissue is broken down more rapidly than it's replaced, leading to the formation of weak, misshapen, and brittle bones. 4. Diagnosis: Diagnosis of Paget's disease involves a combination of clinical evaluation, medical history, and imaging tests such as X-rays, bone scans, and blood tests. Elevated levels of a specific enzyme called alkaline phosphatase in blood tests can be indicative of the disease. 5. Treatment: While there is no cure for Paget's disease, treatment aims to manage symptoms and prevent complications. Medications like bisphosphonates are often prescribed to regulate bone remodeling and reduce the overactivity of bone cells. Additionally, the rapid bone remodeling can lead to the development of osteosarcoma, a rare type of bone cancer, although this complication is extremely rare. 7.
