Here's the 1st of what will probably be several episodes of my trials and tribulations with my collection of Mosin Nagants. In this episode, we learn an important lesson on how to measure headspace in a Mosin Nagant. Although all Mosin Nagants have theoretically been refurbished and checked before being put into long-term storage, the last time a gun smith may have checked the gun could have been 60+ years ago. So if you purchase a Mosin Nagant rifle and it's still coated in cosmoline, then you need to check and see if the headspace between the bolt face and chamber is still correct.
