Trump’s authoritarian takeover of Washington D.C. has created a nightmarish situation for residents with militarized federal agents ominously marching through streets, arresting innocent people, and even going door-to-door to warn people against behavior Trump is “tired” of seeing. They even set up a checkpoint to interrogate people. In response, some D.C. residents mobilized to defend their community from Trump’s tyranny; some protested the checkpoint, while others joined “cop watches” to protect marginalized community members from potential abuse.
