How do you study? 1. Listen to the audio 2. Understand phrases/vocabularies and contents. Listen to the audio at least a few times until you can follow the conversation. 3. Perform the shadowing. Repeat everything what is being said in the audio material. Talk at the same time as the characters, or repeat what they said after they finish the sentence. Study Tips: 1. Learn vowels and consonants 2. Try to mimic every aspects of speech: pronunciation, word/sentence stress, pitch, word linking, sound reduction and contraction. 3. Do it with your friends! You can actually have so much fun. :) 4. Do the speech shadowing everyday. After 60 days, you will sound much better!! Scripts: Bonnie visits her dentist. After taking X-rays, Dr. Black explains what Bonnie will need. Dr. Black: I understand you've been having some pain in two of your back teeth. Bonnie: The two back molars on the upper right have been hurting. Dr. Black: I can see that you've got a cavity in the one furthest back. The other one has been filled before, but the filling is cracked. Bonnie: I had that filling done a couple of years ago. Dr. Black: I see on your x-rays that the one with the cavity is going to need a filling too. Bonnie: I think my teeth need a cleaning. Dr. Black: Yes, your chart says it's been a year. I think first we should fix these two teeth. Bonnie: Can we do the cleaning today? Dr. Black: I think it would be best to wait. The work we do today is going to make you a little sore. Bonnie: Will my insurance cover any of this? Dr. Black: Yes, your insurance will cover 80% of the repairs and it covers one cleaning a year. Bonnie: That’s good. I’m lucking none of the others are acting up.** *checkup: A standard medical or dental exam, usually done on a routine basis. "The school makes me get a checkup once a year if I want to play baseball." **(to) act up - to start hurting or to lose function "George's old back injury was acting up, so he took some aspirin."
