If you're a senior and in the wrong major, watch this video so you can stop freaking out. There are many jobs that you will be eligible to apply for that require a bachelor's degree, but not in a specific major. For some students it is difficult to choose a major before acquiring work experience, which makes the college process feel backwards to many students. It is not uncommon for people to have jobs and careers that are unrelated to what they earned their bachelor's degree in. Remember to keep your grades up so you can keep your options open as you graduate and look for a job. Focus on transferable skills that you can put on your resume, such as computer skills, writing skills, licenses or certificates you may have, sales experience, languages, technical skills, and leadership experience. Most organizations want new hires who have demonstrated that they can work in a team, have solid communication skills, problem solving skills, and can engage in critical thinking. This set of skills are sometimes referred to as "soft skills" or "human literacy skills" because they are not as quantifiable as a grade point average (which a potential employer can verify with the registrars office), but are crucial to the workplace. This skill set is also hard to train in many cases, which is why demonstrating your soft skill set during an interview is paramount. Completing your bachelor's degree, no matter the major, demonstrates that you can finish a goal you set for yourself, which is also a trait that employers look for in new hires. #collegeconversations #wrongmajor #college advice #collegetips #softskills Please subscribe, share this video, and leave a comment below!
