Pebworth Morris Men with added morris minor From Pebworth Morris Men web page Starting in 1978, Pebworth Morris Men have been dancing in, around and outside of the Vale of Evesham for beer, money or just fun. Usually beer, though. A bit of our history on a BBC site is here. We dance a mix of dances - those from the Welsh Border tradition, some from the Cotswold tradition, and some of our own Vale dances too. Our kit looks more like a typical Cotswold side, but a Cotswold dancer would think we danced in quite a Border style. Mind you, a Border dancer would probably think we danced quite like a Cotswold side. We dance single and double jigs, and dances for 4, 5, 6, 8 and multiples thereof. Sometimes 'dance' is a little bit of an exageration. We are a member of the Morris Federation. Our normal key dates each year are: Easter Sunday at the Fleece Inn, Bretforton - our first dance out of the season, usually with the excellent Northwest Ladies side, Belle D'Vain Mayday, beating the bounds from dawn in Pebworth, to dusk at the Offenham Maypole A (mystery) Winter Tour, organised by one of the side, but kept top secret, for absolutely no good reason. Boxing Day at Broadway Vale of Evesham National Morris Weekend A weekend of colour, music and movement – a festival celebrating the best of all of the many forms of England’s national dance In 2006 a group of friends who all danced with various Morris sides got together to develop the Morris presence at Evesham’s annual Asparagus festival. This developed very rapidly into a multi side National festival of Morris held in the Riverside Market Town of Evesham- the gateway to the Cotswolds. Here your side can take part in tours, including Pershore and the Vale villages, the Cotswolds, our own National Trust gem The Fleece Inn, and massed dancing at key venues in and around the Historic market town of Evesham.
