NGO performs free corrective surgery for victims of congenital deformity

Succour has come the way of children born with cleft lips and other congenital deformities in the Federal Capital Territory as they went through free corrective surgery provided by a non-governmental organisation, the Cleft Foundation. Speaking in Abuja shortly after performing the operations at the Bwari General Hospital, leader of the team, Dr Seidu Bello said congenital deformities can be reduced through healthy living by pregnant mothers. He emphasised the need for regular medical check-up by all persons, pointing out that the cause of cleft lip and palate and congenital deformities on the face remain medically unknown.
