The 2011 NFL lockout was in part due to Omalu’s findings, as players made their own safety a key issue. He was played by Will Smith in the 2015 film Concussion. He also conducted a private autopsy of Stephon Clark, an unarmed African-American fatally shot by the police, which differed significantly from the official police autopsy.
