JKMRC Friday Seminar - 04/05/18 21st Century Relining – the Path to Greater Mine Site Profitability The activity of Relining a grinding mill has unusual economic leverage for a hard rock mine site. Despite evidence supporting a program of more frequent relines using liners optimised for profit rather than long-life, we observe an ongoing trend for the use of long life liners and fewer relines. Relines are unpopular due to ongoing safety concerns, a consequence of the remaining environmental hazards of performing Relining from inside the confined space of a grinding mill. We propose that 21st Century Relining becomes the new normal, by the adoption of new safety and performance technologies and processes to eliminate the fear associated with this critical maintenance task. This step change then permits mine site personnel to access the operational benefits and profits associated with a liners for profit strategy
